MY NAME IS EKTACHROME !

LEARN TO SHOOT AND PROCESS KODAK’S 16MM EKTACHROME COLOR REVERSAL FILM STOCK
+ PRESENT YOUR FILM AT OUR SCREENING PARTY

In this workshop participants will be introduced to (and deeply familiarized with) Kodak’s re-released color reversal film stock, EKTACHROME. Kodak ceased production of this film stock in 2010, but (much like Jay-Z’s announced retirement from the music industry) it was too popular to stay gone forever. So, here we are in 2019 celebrating its return to the 16mm format! We'll work as a group explore Ektachrome’s tonal range through filter usage, shoot in a variety of natural lighting environments, we’ll test its latitude with a thorough exposure test, all in an effort to better understand its limitations and its possibilities as a camera stock. Curriculum will cover the basics of shooting 16mm with the Bolex Rex 5 Reflex camera, cover how to meter for proper exposure and discuss the pluses and minuses of working with color reversal in your work flow.  Participants will also learn how to mix the corresponding chemistry (E6) and how to use the LOMO developing tank to reveal positive images!  Additionally, each participant can opt take home a 100’ roll of this film to shoot and process at a later date at a very discounted rate!**  All equipment, materials and chemistry will be provided. At the end of the workshop session we will project the film we shot that day and everyone will go home with a notebook filled with detailed information that will allow you to shoot your own roll with confidence.
