EVENT HISTORY
In the spring of 2007 the first Mono No Aware call for entries was announced. The event was held in November that year in the historic Galapagos Art Space at its original location on North 6th Street Brooklyn, New York. On that cold Sunday evening, with an audience that was past capacity, it was decided that there was interest large enough to continue Mono No Aware as an annual event. Since then, entries have come in from all over the world and the event has moved to larger spaces to accommodate its growing audience. In 2009 Mono No Aware found a home at Lumenhouse in Bushwick, Brooklyn and will continue to take place there until there is a demand for a larger venue.
Mono No Aware was intended to be and will remain a not-for-profit event. A small group of local film-makers banned together using money from their own pockets to support this film performance event dedicated to the cinematic experience. This November 28th, 2010 marks the fourth consecutive year of the Mono No Aware event, open to all who wish to share in the experience as filmmakers or as spectators.
