PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
What do you do with the ideas that come up while you are in the midst of a long project? How do you make space for them? In this screening I will share a selection of short works made while I was in production on EL SIGNO VACÍO (2023) and beginning my current long form project SILVER & EARTH (2027 - hopefully). They each exhibit a particular formal or technical or thematic constraint I was working with to limit the scope of their creation while still getting to the heart of my concerns and interests.
PROGRAM:
ENOLAEMEVAEL/LEAVEMEALONE | dual projector 16mm film | bw | optical sound | 7 mins | 2015 | Roslindale, MA
An unfaithful remake of Man Ray’s 1926 "Emak Bakia" made without the use of a motion picture camera, ELONA EM EVAEL/LEAVE ME ALONE is a nonsensical response to brutality alongside a celebration of silver process.
LIMEN | 16mm | bw | optical sound | 12min | 2019 | Yellowstone, Yosemite & Zion National Parks and Black Hills National Forest
threshold. between two states of being. the boundary of perception. a film made while being sad in amazing places with beautiful people.
SAYOR | 16mm | color | optical sound | 10min | 2022 | Boston, MA, Mount Desert & Winter Harbor, ME
An acronym for swimming at your own risk, SAYOR refers to a forum without a moderator. Three years in the lives of three male children with a parent/observer.
BETTER LIGHTING | 16mm to digital | color | sound | 2 mins | 2025 | North Adams, MA & some street lit corner in 1970’s USA
An agitprop made from two 30-second GE adverts from the 1970's repurposed to rebuke the role white women voters in the US have chosen to uphold white supremacy and the patriarchy instead of supporting the interests of women and anyone who loves them.
IN SITU | 16mm digital transfer (for now) | blue | sound | 5 ish minutes so far | WIP | 21 Cohasset St, Roslindale, MA 02131 & Roy, OR
Using a combination of conventional photography, phytograms as redevelopment and cyanotype this film was shot/processed in the space in between cancer diagnosis and surgery.

MONO NO AWARE SCREENING SERIES:
The CONNECTIVITY THROUGH CINEMA series will present the work of artists, film-makers and curators who are traveling or presenting special interactive programs in-person. Our hope is to engage the community by showing work with a focus on post-screening discussion. This series is made possible by support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
