MUYBRIDGE MOTION STUDY : DECONSTRUCTED 16MM TO STILL

CAPTURE YOURSELF ON 16MM IN MOTION,, DEVELOP, AND DECONSTRUCT IN ORDER REVERSE ENGINEER AND PRINT YOUR OWN ‘MUYBRIDGE’ STYLE MOTION STUDY!

Star in your very own Muybridge motion study!  Learn the history behind these early motion studies and the critical role they played in bridging photographic technologies with proto-cinematic devices.  After a lesson the the history, we'll enter the seamless studio space at the Gowanus Darkroom that will be prepared for you to perform a short durational action that will be captured on B/W 16mm film.  Once complete, we'll develop the motion picture films as negative by hand. Then we’ll identify the sequence of motion, mount the strips into a negative tray, print a still photographic sheet of your study, develop, dry and frame it under glass for you to take home and share with friends and family.

INCLUDES:  Multiple workshops in one: Intro to 16MM, Bolex, LOMO tank developing, Enlarger basics, Printing BW photos, with classroom instruction session with access to the entire photo-studio and wet-lab, B/W 16 mm film to be shot with a Bolex camera, BW negative processing chemistry,  Access to camera equipment (Bolex Rex 5 Camera, prime lens, and tripod), Pyrex glassware, nitrile gloves, drying rack, daylight spools, Access to the enlargers, photo paper and related chemistry. ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL WALK AWAY WITH A B/W PRINT - MOTION STUDY and  Course packet with technical information.
